It is with deep respect and appreciation that I offer this testimony for Thomas Verderosa, the visionary and dedicated man behind the transformation of my property in Connecticut.
Thomas began working on the land in 1991, when the grounds were nothing more than a blank canvas. Through his company, Verderosa Landscaping, and with an eye for beauty and unmatched work ethic, he brought to life the gardens, the trees, and the landscape that has since become a cherished and admired destination for thousands of visitors over the years.
What Thomas created was not just landscaping—it was a masterpiece. His artistic vision, combined with his deep respect for nature and space, guided every decision. From selecting and planting each tree to designing the gardens, his hands shaped every detail with care and intention.
Beyond his talent, what has always stood out to me most is his character. Thomas is a man of loyalty, integrity, and quiet leadership. He led the team that worked under him with fairness, professionalism, and humility. He treated the property as if it were his own, always respectful, always reliable.
I cannot speak highly enough of Thomas Verderosa. His work speaks volumes, but his heart and ethic are what truly set him apart.

Tommy is one of the most talented people in the industry when it comes to moving and planting large caliper trees. Tommy is hands on; he is in the trenches himself digging root balls. I’ve known Tommy for 30 years and his passion and knowledge about trees and plants is exquisite. Tommy is attentive to details and has excellent communication skills. He’s been a mentor to me and taught me so much about moving plants. Tommy is the guy that makes his job look easy.
TOMMY CHARRON
Charron Tree & Shrub Care
I’ve had the privilege of calling Tom both a colleague and a close friend for over a decade. What began as a simple job collaboration has grown into one of the most valuable relationships in my professional life. Tom has become my go-to mentor for transplanting and moving large caliper trees, and his expertise is simply unmatched. What makes Tom special isn’t just his technical knowledge—it’s how he rolls up his sleeves and works right alongside us, tackling every challenge with the same enthusiasm whether it’s a 5' sapling or a 50' giant. If you’re looking for someone who combines world-class expertise with genuine passion and a true partner mentality, Tom is your guy.

Tommy’s passion for saving large, beautiful trees is undeniable! When Tommy looks at a tree, he appreciates not only the exterior beauty but connects with the very soul of the tree. His skill, knowledge and care show through with every piece he is commissioned to save and relocate. I have known Tommy for many years and have listened to stories about each tree, their location, their challenges, their success. And with every story he speaks of each tree as a cherished and dear friend.
LISA TUROCZI
Earth Tones Nursery
Tom Verderosa and I started our working relationship in the early 90’s while I was working in East Hampton managing a wholesale nursery yard. Tom was a landscape contractor and stood out with his exceptional landscape design capabilities. Tom was also considered the best contract digger of specimen nursery stock with the capabilities of moving trees with root balls ten to fifteen feet plus with ease on client’s properties.
A few years later Tom decided to take over the management of a 350 acre estate in central Connecticut. The estate owner wanted to turn the property into a “Horticultural Masterpiece” and with Tom’s help they certainly succeeded.
Tom’s landscape reputation soon spread in the Connecticut area and high end designers there began calling to utilize his expertise. He has not been forgotten on Long Island either. Several landscape companies there continue to bring Tom in to oversee, transplant and install their plantings of very large plant material.
Over 40 years I met and worked with an interesting and knowledgeable collection of horticulturists, landscape designers and contractors, but Tom Verderosa will always stand out above all the rest.

Tommy Verderosa was the best teacher I ever had when it came to landscaping and plant material. He taught me so much and is still a vault of information. The first thing he taught me was to respect the life of every plant and tree. Whenever I needed to know anything about a perennial, an annual, a shrub, a tree, or an ornamental tree—Tommy was the go-to person.
He can create magic out of some topsoil and plants. He doesn’t even need to see the property—it could be explained to him and he would instantly have a vision of what should be planted.
TIM HARRISON
Thomas “Tommy” Verderosa is experienced, knowledgeable, skilled, great to work with and be around. Tommy’s years of experience has given him extensive knowledge of plant, shrub and tree types. His skill for design and proper use and placement of material creates breathtaking landscapes. From small material to trees that look like they have been there for years, he has and can handle it all. Tommy has been involved with many large tree moves and installations on the Diebold estate in Roxbury Connecticut. He was wonderful to work with and I look forward to more projects with him in the future.

Diebold Estate property manager
Tommy Verderosa is an awesome human being. He not only takes care of his family with kindness and care, he takes care of all who are in his life. He treats everyone with love and respect.
I had the pleasure of being Tommy’s secretary for years. He treated every job as if it was his own back yard. I watched him create magic with each carefully planned project. When a client asked for something he would do his best to succeed with their requests, even when it seemed impossible.
His knowledge of plants and trees is beyond comprehension—which in turn made his work last forever. He always did everything with purpose and precision, so the life of each plant and tree was considered for success of growth and life.
I was always amazed how easy and gentle he was with all plant life. He could move a 25 foot tree, whose root ball was bigger than a tractor as easily as a small perennial. His gift of taking a desert-like area and creating an arboretum was truly magical.
Tommy is and always will be the best person for the job when you want your home or place of business to become a sanctuary and a place of joy, peace and happiness. His creativity goes beyond what words can express.

When I purchased a small wooded lot I knew quite a few of my trees had to go but which ones? A friend recommended Tom Verderosa and with the precision of a surgeon he knew exactly which trees to fell for the greater good. The remaining trees have flourished. This guy knows his stuff and loves trees.
MICHAEL DAVID
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Tommy for 20 years. His dedication and strong work ethic to the estate and the family we work for is steadfast. His dedication shows in how pristine and gorgeous the estate looks year-round. Through drought, major storms and impassable roads, Tommy has always showed up and maintained the beautiful artistic landscape. His attention to detail is to be respected and his love of the property is obvious to anyone who enters the Raven Rock gates.
BECKY SWANSON
Tom Verderosa solved many problems for us on our property in the Hudson Valley. We needed an old Beech tree moved and Tom hand dug and wrapped the tree with great care and expertise. He also pruned and saved several fruit trees that are now bearing fruit after a few barren years. He is the consummate professional and truly loves being an arborist. And he’s pretty darned cute too.
